Charger - Renegade Hunters - 4th Year Honours Project

This is the creature design, Charger, who I created for my 4th year honours project titled 'Renegade Hunters - A Fistful of Bounty's'.

My project focuses on designing character/creature designs that present character/personality and successfully conveying them through illustration that employs the theme of a fantasy world containing elements from both the ‘Western’ and ‘Fantasy’ genres. It consists of 3-character designs, 1 creature and 1 dynamic scene illustration incorporating the characters and creature

World and Premise:
The world the characters inhabit is an earth like world featuring lawlessness, corruption, untamed wilderness and violence. Skilled bounty hunters are employed to track down and apprehend or eliminate lawless characters. The project concentrates on two bounty hunters and a fugitive and a wild creature under his control. The ‘Renegade Hunters’ are named Ash and Eve, a brother and sister duo who have taken on an assignment to track down the fugitive ‘Grizzly’ Bill Cooper. They have travelled to the Twisted Forest region to find and capture the crazed trapper outlaw, Cooper. ‘Grizzly’ Bill has a bear like creature, Charger, and both are on the loose and causing havoc.

Character Description:
The bear like creature Charger is a vicious wild animal which is under the control of Bill by his use of power gemstones. There is little emotional bond between Bill and Charger, it is simply a weapon used by Bills his armoury to wreak terror. Armour has been placed on Charger for the obvious reason of protection in battle but this also contains the precious emerald like stones which give Bill control over the beast which is significantly larger and more powerful than he.
